We have represented dozens of clients who were caught up in the Post Office Horizon scandal. It has been widely described as the largest miscarriage of justice in the UK history. We have secured the overturning of criminal convictions and obtained compensation of over £2 million to date for our clients.

  • More than 900 postmasters were falsely accused of criminality after money appeared to go missing in their branches.
  • The Horizon IT system created by Fujitsu and introduced by the Post Office in 1999 turned out to be faulty and had caused branches to show missing money when in actual fact, there wasn’t any missing money.
  • Thousands more sub-postmasters who, although they were not prosecuted in the courts, still had to repay the mystery shortfalls to Post Office, leading to them losing their businesses, and much more, including their reputations, health, finances, and unfortunately in some cases, death by stress related illnesses or suicide.
Post Office Horizon Scandal Protest

Cases have been brought by individuals to the Court of Appeal to overturn convictions, and to the High Court to obtain financial redress.

The government and Post office have introduced a number of schemes and remedies to address the scandal including:

  • Establishing a full independent Inquiry led by Sir Wyn Williams;
  • Enacting legislation including the Post Office (Horizon System) Offences Act 2024;
  • Introducing compensation schemes including the Overturned Convictions redress scheme and the Horizon Shortfall Scheme.
  • A scheme relating to the IT system known as “Capture” has also been announced by the government.
