Bloody Sunday 1972

The judicial review application brought by seven former members of the Parachute Regiment who are suspected of murder and other serious criminal offences on Bloody Sunday will be heard before a Divisional Court sitting in London next Thursday, 26 November.

Mr Justice Ouseley ordered that the families of those killed on Bloody Sunday are not persons “directly affected” by the application as the case concerns the lawfulness of the anticipated arrests, chiefly because the soldiers are willing to be interviewed in England, and because of risks faced in Northern Ireland.

The Chief Constable of the PSNI has undertaken not to arrest any of the soldiers until the hearing takes place.

We are considering the Order with the families and wounded.
