Dr Oye Akindele’s Conviction For Sexual Assault Quashed By Belfast County Court Appeal

Today, the County Court in Belfast quashed the sexual assault conviction of Dr Oye Akindele.

Dr Akindele had been earlier convicted by Belfast Magistrates’ Court on 25 September 2024 of sexual assault on 2nd March 2022 contrary to Article 7(1) of the Sexual Offences (NI) Order 2008.

Michael Madden, solicitor for the appellant said:

“Dr Akindele’s good character and reputation is now fully restored by today’s judgement.

“He looks forward to putting this difficult period of his life behind him and getting back to caring for his patients.”
