Remembering Rosemary Nelson

Remembering our colleague, Rosemary Nelson, on this her 22nd anniversary.

In May 2011 the Public Inquiry into her murder found that it “could not exclude the possibility” that individual members of the RUC, British Army or security services had assisted the Red Hand Defenders who claimed responsibility for Rosemary’s murder.

The Inquiry also concluded that RUC members had publicly abused and assaulted Rosemary in 1997 and made threatening remarks about her to her clients which helped “legitimise her as a target in the eyes of loyalist terrorists”.
