Jeremiah Thede first appeared in Coleraine Magistrate’s Court on 22nd June 2015 charged with assaulting a flight attendant, behaving in a disorderly manner on-board an aircraft, and endangering the safety of an aircraft.

He was returned to Antrim Crown Court on 29th September 2015 for the charge of assault and the charge of endangering the safety of an aircraft. The prosecution did not proceed with the charge of disorderly manner on-board an aircraft.

Today, 23rd February 2016, the court dismissed the charge of assault when a ‘No Bill’ application was successfully made by his legal team at Antrim Crown Court.

A trial has now been fixed in April for the last remaining count of endangering the safety of an aircraft to be contested.

Mr Thede’s solicitor Patrick Madden stated after court:

“My client is pleased that the court has dismissed this charge and a trial date has now been fixed to contest the remaining charge in April.

“Mr Thede has strenuously denied these allegations from the outset and has been forced to remain in this jurisdiction for almost 9 months.

“This has been a tremendously difficult period for him and he looks forward to clearing his name and returning home to his family in the United States at the earliest opportunity.”
