Ciaran Shiels of Madden & Finucane, Solicitors said today,

“This morning, at Belfast Crown Court, the Public Prosecution Service offered no evidence against our client, Miss Jennifer Toland. The Trial Judge ordered that the Jury find Jennifer not guilty of charges of murder and robbery of the victim in this case, Coleraine pensioner Bertie Acheson.

“This case, which featured on BBC Crimewatch, involved a complex forensic prosecution involving DNA evidence which we were able to successfully challenge.

“Jennifer thanks the Jury for their verdict today and is grateful that the ordeal of this court case has now concluded with her good character intact and the allegations against her formally dismissed.”
