A Derry republican says he intends to take a legal challenge in the High Court against controversial PSNI stop and search powers.
Steven Ramsey from Creggan claims he has been stopped up to 60 times a year for the last five years but has never been convicted of anything.
Mr. Ramsey’s lawyers, Madden and Finucane, intend to bring the case next month.
The Derry man said he was a member of the 32 County Sovereignty Movement in the past but is no longer connected to any republican organisations.
“I have been stopped between 40 and 60 times a year since 2008 and nothing has been found.
“It’s not just me, they have also stopped my children on their way to school.
“It is just plain harassment. Hopefully by challenging this I can highlight it,” he said.
The PSNI have defended the use of stop and search powers.
